FRANCISCO GONZALEZ-NIETO, was born in Valladolid, Spain on July 16, 1960. González-Nieto was admitted to the Puerto Rico Bar in January, 1986 and to the U.S. District Court, District of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit also in 1986. González-Nieto obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences from Mercer University, Macon, GA, in 1982, a Juris Doctor from the Interamerican University, San Juan, P.R., in 1985 and a Master of Laws degree from Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, in 1987. From 1987 to 1994, González-Nieto was a member of McConnell Valdés' corporate and commercial department where he became a partner in 1993. From 1994 through December 1998 he was a partner of Nevares, Sánchez-Alvarez & González-Nieto.

EDGAR F. BALZAC, was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on October 23, 1960. Balzac was admitted to the Puerto Rico Bar in January 1986 and to the U.S. District Court, District of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit also in 1986. Balzac obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA, in 1982, and a Juris Doctor from the Interamerican University, San Juan, P.R., in 1985. Prior to joining Nevares, Sánchez-Alvarez & González-Nieto in 1997, Balzac worked with De Corral & De Mier and with Calvesbert & Brown.

JOSE G. BAREA FERNANDEZ, was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, June 24, 1960. Mr. Barea was admitted to the Puerto Rico Bar in January 1986 and to the U.S. District Court, District of Puerto Rico in 1990 and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in 1986. Mr. Barea obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Puerto Rico, cum laude, San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1982, and Juris Doctor from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1985. Prior to joining González-Nieto García & Balzac, Mr. Barea worked for Correa-Calzada, Collazo-Salazar, Herrero, Jiménez & Fortuño. Mr. Barea has served for the Board of Bar Examiners of the Supreme Court for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, 1996-1998, 1996-1998. Mr. Barea is a member of the Colegio de Abogados de Puerto Rico and the American Bar Association. Mr. Barea specializes in commercial, construction and banking litigation, estate matters and sports law.

VICTOR J. GIRONA GONZALEZ

was born in Manatí, Puerto Rico on September 12, 1972. Mr. Girona was admitted to the Puerto Rico Bar in Jnauary, 2003 and to the U.S. District Court, District of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in 2003. Mr. Girona obtained a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, Puerto Rico in 1995, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico, magna cum laude, in 2002. Prior to joining González-Nieto García Barea & Balzac, Mr. Girona worked for Correa, Collazo, Herero Jiménez & Fortuño and Saldaña, Saldaña-Egozcue & Vallecillo. Mr. Girona is a Member of the Colegio de Abogados de Puerto Rico. Mr. Girona specializes in civil, commercial, banking and construction litigation.



YARLIZ A. RÍOS PORTELA, was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico on September 15, 1981. Ríos Portela was admitted to the Puerto Rico Bar in January 2007. Ríos Portela obtained a Bachelor's Degree of Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico, magna cum laude, Aguadilla, Puerto Rico in 2003, and a Juris Doctor from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, cum laude, San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2006. In June 2006, Ríos Portela received the Ivette Coll de Pestaña Award for her dedication and compromise with the Law Review of the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico.
